How many days do you need in Switzerland?+
Ten to fourteen days covers Zurich, the Bernese Oberland, and either Zermatt or the Lake Geneva west without rushing. Seven days works for Zurich and Interlaken only, with Jungfraujoch as the main mountain day.
Do I need a visa for Switzerland?+
Switzerland is in the Schengen area — many nationalities visit visa-free for short stays. Rules depend on your passport — check official EU sources; we do not give visa advice.
Is Switzerland expensive?+
Mid-range on the ground runs roughly €130 to €170 per person per day excluding flights — Zermatt, St Moritz, and Jungfraujoch tickets push totals higher than Bern or Basel.
What is the best month to visit?+
June to September suits lakes, hiking, and mountain railways. December to March fits ski resorts. May and October are shoulder months with lower hotel rates.
Zurich or Geneva first?+
Either works — open-jaw into ZRH and out GVA (or reverse) saves backtracking for a west-and-Oberland loop. SBB links the cities in under three hours.
